Itinerary

Day 1 – Into the Heart of the Caucasus: Tbilisi → Abano Pass → Omalo → Shenako
Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Tbilisi, passing through the rolling vineyards and golden fields of Kakheti wine country. The road soon transforms into a thrilling ascent of the legendary Abano Pass — the highest drivable mountain pass in the Caucasus at 2,865 m.
Breathtaking panoramas stretch out in every direction: snow-dusted peaks, deep valleys, and waterfalls cascading from sheer cliffs.
By afternoon, you’ll arrive in Lower Omalo, the gateway to Tusheti, where time feels frozen in stone towers and slate-roofed homes.
A scenic ride takes you to Shenako, a peaceful village framed by rugged mountains. As the sun dips, enjoy a hearty Tushetian dinner in a cozy guesthouse, warmed by stories and the scent of mountain herbs.
Day 2 – Village Legends & Hidden Valleys: Omalo → Dartlo → Kvavlo & Chesho
Wake up to crisp alpine air and the aroma of fresh-baked bread and local cheese. After breakfast, we journey deeper into Tusheti, where Dartlo awaits — a medieval jewel of stone towers and wooden balconies, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage candidate.
From Dartlo, we take a short but rewarding walk to Kvavlo, a hilltop hamlet offering sweeping views across the Pirikiti Valley. You’ll feel like you’re standing at the edge of the world.
Our route continues through the serene Chesho village, where shepherds tend their flocks and time is measured by the rhythm of the mountains.
Return to Omalo in the late afternoon, with an optional visit to the Keselo Towers Museum to uncover stories of Tusheti’s warriors and guardians. Another night in your guesthouse brings warm hospitality, home-cooked specialties, and stargazing under crystal-clear skies.
Day 3 – Farewell to the Highlands: Omalo → Alaverdi Monastery → Tbilisi
After breakfast, say goodbye to your hosts and begin the descent from Tusheti, once more navigating the awe-inspiring twists of Abano Pass.
In the Kakheti lowlands, we pause at the Alaverdi Monastery, a monumental 11th-century cathedral surrounded by vineyards — a perfect place to reflect on your highland journey.
